Where business meets engineering.
A masterclass from UBC Sauder School of Business and UBC Faculty of Applied Science on how real case competitions actually work. Live from Vancouver.
Open to every student in Grade 10, 11, and 12 at participating schools · Closes Sunday, May 3 · No costWhat you're signing up for.
On Tuesday, May 5, two UBC professors will spend an hour with students in India live over Zoom: one from the UBC Sauder School of Business, one from the UBC Faculty of Applied Science. Together they will walk through what a real case competition is, how to approach one, and how business and engineering thinking come together.
So, what's a case competition? It's simple:
- You're given a real business problem, something you probably haven't seen before.
- You and your team get a few hours to come up with your best solution.
- Then you present and defend your idea in front of a panel of experts.
There's no single "right" answer, no textbook shortcut. It's all about thinking under pressure, reasoning clearly, and leading with confidence, the very skills the world's top universities train their students to develop.
What you'll walk away with.
- A working sense of what case competitions really are, and how to approach one.
- A framework for breaking down an unfamiliar problem with a team of four.
- A real feel for how UBC Vancouver teaches leaders to think across business and engineering.
- Preparation for The Big Question by UBC on May 16, if you are competing.
Two parts to your pre-learning.
